“Building Strong Kids Campaign”

YMCA Annual Support Campaign

How does the YMCA offer financial assistance?  Every year YMCAs conduct an annual campaign where people are given the opportunity to financially support mission-based programs and to provide funding to furnish financial assistance to those who want to participate but cannot afford program or membership fees.  This fall will kick off the fifth annual “Building Strong Kids Campaign” October 21- November 17, 2008 . An annual campaign is all about telling the story of the YMCA and asking for financial support. The goal for 2008 will be to raise $40,000, but most importantly the campaign will allow board members to tell the story of the YMCA and giving creates ownership in the community. Special recognition will be offered for those meeting the Chairman's Roundtable Challenge to contribute $1,000 to the annual campaign.

"Member-Get-A-Member Campaign"

There are lots of benefits to being a member of the YMCA and we’ve just added another—a FREE YMCA duffle bag and devotional book.  Between September 1 and September 30, YMCA members can bring a friend to the YMCA for a free tour/day pass AND, if they join, the current member and the new members will BOTH receive a cool YMCA duffle bag and a YMCA daily devotional book by Oswald Chambers.  Members must accompany the potential new member when they sign up for membership to qualify for the free gifts.  So why not recruit a friend, neighbor or relative to be your new workout partner? You’ll both feel great! For more information, call 385-1818 or toll free 877-385-YMCA .

The Missouri Foundation for Health is a philanthropic organization whose vision is to improve the health of the people in the communities it serves.  Since the YMCA is a 501©3 charitable organization, it is eligible for these funds.  The grant is a Basic Support Grant which will go into the operating budget over a three year period.  The funds will pay for expenses related to health and fitness programs.

YMCA Board Approves Funds to Surface YMCA Indoor Walking Track
The Members of the Long Branch Area YMCA are sure to be excited with the upcoming improvement of surfacing the indoor walking track with a 100% rubber Mondo Sportflex surface.  The project should begin this fall and will take approximately 3 weeks to complete.  The YMCA facility will remain open however the track will be closed during the few weeks of installing the surface.  The top layer is made of unique sealskin embossing which allows for easy maintenance and excellent traction.  The coefficient of friction and shore hardness meets requirements of walking activities and is ADA approved for slip resistance.  The shock absorption layer provides unparalleled safety and comfort.  The total cost of the project is approximately $55,000
